How to Join Pak Army as Officer?

Now the question arises what is the difference between the long and short course. So, the answer is Long Course is a permanent commission. Whereas, Short Course is a Special Purpose, Requirement-based or Short-Period Commission.

Another difference is, you can join Long Course after “Intermediate” while “Graduation to M.Phil” is educational requirements for Short Course. Then the number of vacancies also varies, the long course has more vacancies as compared to the short course.

Moreover, you can serve up to General in Long Course. But in Short Course, you can serve up to Lt Colonel and up to this only in exceptional cases. This includes the Education Corps, Engineering Corps, and Medical Corps, etc.

What is the Qualification required to Join Pak Army as Officer?

To Join Pak Army as Officer in long course, educational criteria are F.A, F.SC,I.Com, and I.C.S with 50% marks. Whereas, to join as Short Service Commission or Short Course, Professional Education for a specific branch is mandatory.

Like, MBBS for Medical Corps, B.E or M.E for Engineer Corps, M.Phil in the respective subject for Education Corps. MCS to Join Pak Army as ICTO or Information and Computer Technology Officer. MA or MS is required for Psychologist vacancies.

The Engineer Corps also offers the vacancies for Technical Cadet (TC). While Medical Corps offers the vacancies for Medical Cadet (M-Cadet). In the case of Technical Cadets, graduates are offered the rank of Captain. However, Medical Cadet has the option either to Join Army as Captain or AFNS. Armed Forces Nursing Staff or AFNS is another interesting and highly potential field in Pak Army.

What is the training period of Join Pak Army?

Which types of Commission is offered by Pak Army?

There are a number of Commission, which is offered by Pak Army. Those are Regular Commission, Short Service Regular Commission, Direct Short Service Commission.

1. Regular Commission:

This type of commission includes PMA Long Course, Graduate Course, Technical Cadet Course, AM Cadet Course, AFNS Course.

a.PMA Long Course:

In this course, a candidate should be an intermediate passed with 50 % marks. He should have 22 years of age and 23 years of age for graduate qualification and (Armed Forces Personnel). Whereas, he should be of 25 years of age, in case of Serving Army Soldier.

b.Graduate Course:

In the case of Graduate Course, all the criteria are the same except qualification and bonding period and initial test syllabus. Moreover, qualification is also different from the Long Course. Therefore, a candidate needs to remain updated with the advertisement of Join Pak Army. As the criteria may be revised with time to time.

c.Technical Cadet Course:

In the case of Technical Cadet Course. A candidate should have an intermediate degree in the respective subject. For engineering, Pre-Engineering and for Computer Engineer he should possess Intermediate in Computer Science. He should have passed the intermediate with 65% marks. All the other criteria are as same as for long course.

d.Medical Cadet Course:

In the case of Medical Cadet Course. A candidate required to serve the Pak Army for a period of 13 Years. He should have passed Intermediate with Biology and should have 70% Marks in aggregate.

His age should be 17-21 years. He has to undergo training of 4 years (BDS) and 5 years (MBBS) respectively. He has to spend 22 Weeks training at PMA Kakul for Basic Military Training.

e.AFNS:

Join Pak Army as an officer in the Armed Forces Nursing Staff. There are two conditions of joing as AFNS;

First, In the case, a candidate has a qualification BSc Nursing (Female).She has passed Matric Science with 60% marks and F.Sc (Pre-Medical) with 50%. She has an age limit of 17-25 years.

Second, In the case, a candidate has a qualification BSc Generic Nursing (Female), Post (RN) B.Sc Nursing or Nursing Diploma and Midwifery. She has an age limit of 18-28 years. Then she will be offered the rank of Lieutenant on joining.

The selected AFNS candidates have to spend a period of 10 years in the Pak Army. During their training, they will be attached at APMG Rawalpindi, CMH Multan, CMH Quetta, CMH Kharian, CMH Lahore and PNS Shifa, Karachi.

2.Short Service Regular Commission:

Pak Army inducts the doctors in Short Service Regular Commission. According to their qualification, they are granted the rank of Captain and Major. A candidate having simple MBBS degree granted the rank of Captain.

He is inducted into General Duty Medical Officer (GDMOs) cadre. Whereas, the specialist doctors are inducted into Specialist Cadre. They are granted the rank of Major on joining.

Selection Procedure for Join Pak Army:

After this, he will undergo an Intelligence Test followed by Academic Test. Those who will remain successful in these tests will be called for initial Medical followed by Physical Test. In Physical Test he has to pass 1 mile running along with Push-Ups and Chin Ups Tests. He also has to pass the Ditch-Crossing Test in Physical Test.

After passing all these examinations, a candidate has to pass the initial interview test. This test is key to ISSB Call. If a person passes the initial interview, he submits documents for ISSB.

While those candidates who got recommended by ISSB goes through a detailed Medical Examination at CMHs (Combined Military Hospital). And those who remain suitable after all these examinations are short-listed by GHQ and receive final call letter as per vacancies.

This is a continuous process, which needs determination. Therefore, a candidate should not lose heart and trust in Allah Almighty. Remember there is no favoritism in Pak Army.

The only person who possesses the abilities gets selected by ISSB (Inter-Services Selection Board). You should not believe in fake claims of Forces Academies. So, do hard work with consistency and get selected.
